08 Aug The Henderson Family
Selah Henderson was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma in January 2016. Prior to her diagnosis, she was treated for pneumonia and then sent to her local hospital for further tests. The CT scan revealed a large mass on her right lung and another on her left adrenal gland. A spot was also found on her right hip bone and several days later it was confirmed in her bone marrow. Selah underwent surgery immediately to remove the large mass. Once removed, she began chemotherapy treatments at a Charlotte area hospital.
Over the course of her treatments, Selah and her mom, Michelle, would call the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Charlotte their home-away-from-home. Both Michelle and Selah found comfort in knowing that after a long day of treatment there would be a smiling face to greet them at the door, a homecooked meal waiting in the kitchen and their very own guest room to rest, reflect and recharge as a family. RMHC of Greater Charlotte will continue to be there for Michelle and Selah for every step of her treatment journey.
“My favorite place in the world is my own home, but my second favorite place is the Ronald McDonald House.” – Selah said.
