Sport a Shirt 2024 campaign hit it out of the park, raising a fantastic $170,000 for families with sick or injured children! With 87 team captains rallying supporters and more than 800 people joining in the fun at the Charlotte Knights game on Wear Day, the campaign was a huge success! By selling and wearing exclusive $15 t-shirts, participants not only showed their support but also helped raise both awareness and vital funds for RMHC of GC families.
Heart & Hands Celebration
onald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte celebrated a momentous milestone in 2024 with their Hearts & Hands event, commemorating 13 years of impact and service to families in need. While the rain forced the event indoors, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the attendees; in fact, the turnout was overwhelming, setting a new record for attendance! This year’s Hearts & Hands event brought together an incredible mix of individuals dedicated to supporting RMHC’s mission. Red Shoe Society members, corporate partners, volunteers, and even former families who had benefited from the RMHC of GC’s services gathered to celebrate the past year’s accomplishments and learn about the exciting progress made by the organization. The evening was filled with inspiring conversations and heartwarming reunions. As guests mingled and enjoyed the evening’s festivities, they were treated to insightful updates from RMHC of GC’s CEO, Denise Cubbedge. Highlights included impressive statistics showing how RMHC of GC has continued to expand its reach and provide vital support to families with sick children, from the number of families served to the generous donations that made it all possible. Volunteers, donors, and corporate partners were recognized for their invaluable contributions, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in the success of RMHC of Greater Charlotte.
Pop Tab Pandemonium
Pop Tab Pandemonium was a unique and exciting celebration that brought together the community to raise awareness about an innovative and environmentally friendly way of supporting the RMHC of GC families. This event highlighted the incredible impact of collecting pop tabs, a simple yet powerful effort to support RMHC’s mission while also contributing to sustainability. Pop Tab Pandemonium is centered around the community’s collective effort to collect aluminum pop tabs, which are then recycled in exchange for a check donation from metal recycling facilities. This ingenious initiative not only helps raise much-needed funds but also promotes recycling and environmental responsibility. The event was designed to showcase the significance of this recycling program, as well as to celebrate the outstanding support from local businesses, schools, individuals, and organizations that participated in the pop tab collection drive. RMHC of GC received an astonishing 2 million pop tabs in ONE WEEK from all across the Greater Charlotte area and beyond!
Jerseys & Jewels
Jerseys & Jewels was a total showstopper, raising over $300,000 for families in need! Held for the first time at the Charlotte Knights Truist Field, the night was packed with excitement, a fabulous silent and live auction, raffles, food, drink, awesome photo opportunities, and an epic fireworks finale. It was a dazzling blend of glitz and America’s favorite pastime, baseball. RMHC of GC supporters decked out their favorite sports gear and showed up for a fun night for families!
JGCC Happy Wheels Ribbon Cutting
The Happy Wheels Hospitality Cart Program provides refreshments, care items, activities, and even more to families within the hospital setting. RMHC of GC launched its fourth Happy Wheels location at Atrium Health’s Jeff Gordon Children’s Center in Concord, NC! This is just the beginning of our expansion into medical facilities across the Greater Charlotte area, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about growing our reach to Cabarrus County and the city of Concord. Join us in celebrating this exciting milestone as we continue to serve more families than ever before!
Alpha Delta Pi Fall Festival
The Alpha Delta Pi Charlotte Alumnae Association hosted its fourth annual Fall Festival last year, benefiting RMHC of Greater Charlotte families. The event was a fun-filled day for all ages, with ADPI volunteers going above and beyond to create a Spooky Playground for kids to enjoy. Guests also had the chance to participate in a silent auction featuring amazing items from local businesses, enjoy a festive photo booth, get creative with face painting, and join in the fun of a trunk-or-treat! Thanks to everyone who made this event a success and helped support families in need.
Red Shoe Society Oyster Roast
The Red Shoe Society Oyster Roast was a fantastic evening of appreciation and community! We love celebrating our Red Shoe Society members, and this exclusive event is just one of the many perks of being part of this incredible group. Guests enjoyed a cozy atmosphere while “All About That Baste” grilled and steamed up delicious local oysters and a seafood boil. Hosted at a new venue, we partnered with Lower Left Brewing to provide their wonderful space and craft brews. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to making even more memories at next year’s event!
