When Braxton Dean Bowen entered the world at just 32 weeks, he faced an uphill battle. Born prematurely, he spent 37 days in the NICU at Atrium Health’s Pineville Maternity Center, leaving his parents, Avery and Katlin, feeling overwhelmed and anxious.
Amid this challenging time, a family member suggested they look into the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Charlotte. What they found was a lifeline. “The Ronald McDonald House was a huge blessing for our family,” Avery shared. “My wife and I will always be grateful for our stay at RMHC.”
Instead of making a stressful 90-minute drive from their hometown of Shelby, North Carolina, the Bowen Family was just 20 minutes away from their son. This proximity allowed them to spend precious moments with Braxton, easing their worries and allowing them to focus on what mattered most, his health.
At RMHC of Greater Charlotte, they found more than just a place to stay; they discovered a community that embraced them as family. “All the staff and volunteers treat you like family. They will do anything to help you,” Avery recalled.
After 32 nights, the Bowen Family finally brought baby Braxton home, healthy and thriving. Today, he’s surrounded by love, snuggles, and all the attention he deserves.
